Anvil Productions was founded in 2015 by Joanne Davis and Rebecca Lister. Rebecca and Joanne are committed to developing new work using a range of forms and genres.
Hello! I’m Joanne and I am a Champion Tea Drinker & a professionally trained actor experienced in stage, film, TV & voice-over.
I am co-artistic director of Anvil Productions with Rebecca Lister. We create new work together and laugh a lot. I have a strong interest in multi-form work and often devise & collaborate with artists in visual art, film, dance & live art performance.
Performance includes: Melbourne Fringe, Comedy & International Arts Festival; Castlemaine Arts Festival, La Mama, 45downstairs, Gasworks, The Australian National Playwrights’ Centre, Public Art Melbourne Biennial Lab, FOLA Melbourne and MONA FOMA, Tasmania.
I have produced & performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival (Gilded Balloon) & worked with U.K. companies including the British Russian Theatre, Camden’s People Theatre & ROAR Festival.
My co-adaption to stage, & multi-media one-woman performance of Dorothy Porter’s ‘The Monkey’s Mask’, was enthusiastically endorsed by the author & toured Australian arts & writers' festivals over a five year period.
I am committee member with the wonderful folk at the Victorian Actors' Benevolent Trust.
I hold a Diploma of Arts - Small Companies & Community Theatre, a Masters of Primary Health - Palliative Care, and have been known to make hats!

I am co-artistic director of Anvil Productions with Joanne Davis. Same as what Joanne said… ‘we create new work together laugh a lot and drink a lot of tea!’
I’m an award-winning playwright and work as a writer, arts producer, workshop facilitator and MC. I am the host of live chat show ‘On the Couch with Beck Lister’ and the monthly MC of intergenerational storytelling show Generation Women Melbourne.
I also work as a social worker in private practice and as a sessional worker for Eating Disorders Victoria.
I part of the wonderful committee who produce the Words in Winter literary festival in the Hepburn Shire.
I live and work in Daylesford on the lands of the Dja Dja Wurrung.
